Mega Maldives airline has begun scheduled flights between Malé and Chongqing, China, one of the leading cities in China in sending tourists to the Maldives.
A Press Release issued by Mega Maldives today said that scheduled flights between Malé and one of the major commercial centers in Southwest China, and one of the country’s five national central cities, began last Friday. The Press Release also said that flights between the two cities would be conducted five days every week.
Mega Maldives Press Release says that Chongqing is one of the fastest-developing cities in China, and that two-thirds of vehicles produced in China is being manufactured in the city.
Mega Maldives also notes that the number of tourists to Maldives from Europe has declined due to economic problems in Europe, China is a newly emerging and a very lucrative market for Maldives, and that the beginning of scheduled flights between major Chinese cities and Malé would be a huge step in strengthening tourist flow between China and Maldives.
Mega Maldives is already conducting scheduled flights from Malé to Chinese capital Beijing, commercial centers Shanghai and Hong Kong. The company has also expressed interest in buying new carriers and beginning scheduled flights to important destinations in the Middle East.
