The Maldives has condemned Israeli violations of the human rights of Palestinians and the activities impeding the efforts to establish two independent nations as the world battles against COVID-19.
The Maldives expressed his solidarity with a resolution issued by the Non-Aligned Movement (NAM) which condemned the Israeli actions of forceful occupations of Palestinian land and cruel treatment of Palestinian nationals.
The resolution stated that the rights of Palestinian citizens were being violated and that they were being subjected to inhumane and cruel treatment with Israeli forceful occupation activities that violate the 1967 borders established for the creation of an independent Palestinian state.
The Maldives and other members of NAM reiterated the policy of creating an independent Palestinian state and the designation of East Jerusalem as the state capital. The policy also called to end the forceful and illegal occupation of Palestinian lands by Israel.
Efforts to establish a two-state solution were impeded with such Israeli activities which were declared as a violation of international law, read the resolution by NAM. The organization also called on Israel to revert the borders back to the 1967 resolutions and called for Israel to be held accountable for the violations of UN resolutions.
NAM called to boycott Israeli businesses and products that operate in the occupied lands and also called on the UN to impose the resolutions passed regarding the matter and put a stop to Israeli illegal occupation. NAM stated that the actions of Israel disrupted the peace of the Middle East region as well as international peace.
This is not the first time the Maldives has condemned Israeli actions. President Ibrahim Mohamed Solih had also shed light on the matter and delivered harsh words against the illegal occupation and human rights violations of Israel while delivering an address at the United Nations General Assembly last year.
