Pakistan to contribute USD 3 million to SAARC Covid-19 fund

Pakistan will be donating USD 3 million to the SAARC Covid-19 fund established to assist member countries to combat the pandemic virus.

The fund was initiated by Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi. India is set to donate USD 10 million to the fund while Afghanistan, Bangladesh, and Nepal will be contributing USD 1 million. Sri Lanka will contribute USD 5 million while Maldives and Bhutan are set to provide USD 800,000 and USD 100,000 respectively.

Out of the SAARC nations, the virus has hit Pakistan and India the hardest. India has more than 6000 cases while Pakistan has more than 4000. The number of deaths among SAARC nations is now 300.
