Leader of Jumhooree Party (JP) Gasim Ibrahim has said that he will make JP the biggest and most popular political party in the Maldives.
Speaking at a meeting held by JP to accept forms of people who had joined the party, Gasim said that since the Maldives a republic, it should be ruled by the Jumhooree (Republic) Party.
Gasim noted that Elections Commission (EC) had been negligent in registering the forms of people wishing to join JP, but regardless of this, JP already has over 13,000 members.
He expressed concern on behalf of JP members, that the forms sent to EC might go unregistered.
“People who join JP have complained about how EC accepts their forms, and how much delay is involved in the process. This is worrying. It can take two or three months just to register, and then they can reject a member saying that the fingerprints don’t match,” he said.
The Presidential Candidate of JP expressed confidence that JP will win the next Presidential Elections, and assured Maldivians that he will save Maldives from its current financial troubles.
JP welcomed 101 new members last night, which includes 49 people from K. Kaashidhoo and 52 people from Adh. Mahibadhoo.
