Foakaidhoo case, Emirates employee test negative for Covid-19

An employee of the Kuredu Island Resort identified in SH. Foakaidhoo and an Emirates ticketing office employee from Male' city have both tested negative for the Covid-19 disease, according to HPA.

In a tweet, HPA announced that the test samples for three people suspected of the virus had come back as negative. They include the Emirates ticketing office employee, who communicated with an Italian tourist who later tested positive for the disease after departing from the Maldives.

The second person was an employee of Kuredu Island Resort who had traveled to Sh. Foakaidhoo. Both of them were moved to the isolation center in Farukolhufushi after being suspected of the virus.

HPA informed yesterday that test samples from a man in home isolation in Lh. Hinnavaru would also be taken.

A total of 15 people in Male’ city are also in isolation after coming into contact with the Italian tourist. They include employees of the Maagiri Hotel, where the tourist had stayed until the departure arrangements were confirmed.

Tests on an employee of the Vilamendhoo resort in A.Dh atoll is also being conducted after exhibiting symptoms of the disease, HPA informed today.

Six cases of the virus have so far been confirmed in the Maldives. They are all foreign nationals and include four employees of Kuredu and two employees of Sandies Bathala Resort. Temporary restrictions are in place for Vilamendhoo, Kuredu and Bathala resorts.
