Drug traffickers arrested with MVR300,000

Police have arrested two people suspected of large-scale drug trafficking, and seized MVR300,000 and $3,000.

Police said that the drugs and cash were found in an apartment in H. Thoddoo house, following a special operation conducted at around 15:10 yesterday by the Drugs Enforcement Department and Police Intelligence.

They also informed that the men arrested were of 30 and 32 years of age.

The 32-year-old man was arrested on the street on the north side of Kalaafaanu School, while the 30-year-old man was arrested in the apartment on the third floor of H. Thoddoo.

The 32-year-old man was carrying 41 rubber bullets containing a substance suspected to be drugs in two cigarette boxes in his pocket, and another cigarette box which was dropped on the ground, containing 20 rubber bullets containing a substance suspected to be drugs.

Police checked his home located at H. Thoddoo house third floor following a Court warrant, following which they found two packets containing 1.28g of a substance suspected to be drugs was.

Also found in this apartment were a packet weighing 406g and 40 bullet-sized packets containing substances suspected to be drugs.

Police said that equipment used for weighing and packing drugs were also found at H. Thoddoo house.

The case of the two people is currently under investigation by the Drugs Enforcement Department.
