Criminal Court has denied statements made by Addu City Council’s Feydhoo member Ahmed Mirzad about the Court.
Mirzad said yesterday that his family would not have told Criminal Court’s officials who went to his residence to deliver the official chit to summon him to Court in relation to the arson attacks in Addu City on 8 February, that they had no information on his whereabouts.
Media Official of the Criminal Court Ahmed Mohamed Manik said today that Criminal Court had sent a message, to be delivered to Mirzad, to Addu City’s Feydhoo Magistrate Court.
Sun Online has received a copy of the fax message sent by Feydhoo Court to Criminal Court, which states that out of the 19 people in Addu accused of arson, the official Court summons could only be delivered to 14.
The message further details that people at Mirzad’s home had told Feydhoo Court officials who went to his residence to deliver the chit, that they had no information on Mirzad’s location or his contact number.
Information about others accused of arson included in the message are, that Hussain Shamin’s mother had informed Feydhoo Court that Shamin currently works at Hulhumale’ and provided him contact number; that Sajah Rasheed is currently under Police custody; and that Ahmed Areesh had informed that he is not able to attend Court due to financial difficulties.
Areesh, however, attended Court yesterday, and said that he does not want a lawyer to represent him in this case.
