LEVERKUSEN, Germany (AP) — Bayer Leverkusen says Michael Ballack broke his nose in the 1-0 win at Freiburg in the Bundesliga.
Leverkusen confirmed the injury on its website Saturday, after the former Germany captain underwent a checkup at a Freiburg clinic on Friday night after the match.
The Bundesliga side says a decision on whether Ballack plays at Valencia in the Champions League on Tuesday won't be made until shortly before the game.
The 35-year-old Ballack scored in the second minute of Leverkusen's win, his first Bundesliga goal for more than five years.
