Gulhifalhu Industrial Zone Limited files case on missing laptops, documents

A case has been submitted to the Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC), in relation to the disappearance of several financial documents and laptops of Gulhifalhu Industrial Zone Limited.

The case presented to ACC states that ten MacBook Pro laptops were purchased by Gulhifalhu Industrial Zone as prizes for the top ten students of the O’level exam, but some of the laptops have not been delivered to the students.

The case details that Gulhifalhu Limited’s Company’s Secretary and Managing Director of Thilafushi Corporation Limited, Mohamed Latheef has been repeatedly requested by the company’s Managing Director Abdullah Naushad to provide documents to prove that the laptops were delivered to the students; however, Latheef has so far not been able to present this proof.

It states that Latheef had failed also to provide some financial documents of the company, and that he had in the meantime requested to resign from the post of Secretary.

“Latheef has been informed that he will not be allowed to resign until the completion of a proper audit of the company,” says the case submitted to the ACC.

MD Naushad told Sun Online today that the company is conducting an internal investigation on the case of the missing laptops, and that efforts are also under way to recover the missing documents.
