Government exhausts 99 percent of its travel budget

Finance Ministry statistics have shown that 99 percent of the budget allocated for government travel expenses has been used up.

The statistics showed that the government had spent MVR 141.3 million on travel expenses, while the allocated budget was MVR 142.1 million. MVR 9.5 billion had been allocated for employee allowances and out of this amount MVR 7.1 billion had already been paid. MVR 19.1 billion had been allocated for recurrent expenses and out of this amount 14.1 billion has been spent.

The estimated aid by the Finance Ministry stands at MVR 2.69 billion. Of this amount, MVR 1 billion had been received by the government. MVR 7.2 billion had been allocated for Urban development projects and PSIP. MVR 2.6 billion had been spent from this amount as well.
