Feydhoo MP Alhan Fahmy has said that the political chapters or careers of the two former Presidents, Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and Mohamed Nasheed, have come to an end; and that now it is up to Jumhooree Party (JP) to establish a new government in the country.
Speaking at a small function attended by about 100 people at the JP Haruge last night to resume the party’s activities, Alhan said that the current Leader of JP has the capacity to achieve development for the country.
“What this country needs now is not a leader who protests on the streets, and not people who can stand near podiums, like me, and deliver speeches. What we need are experienced, capable people who can resolve the current challenges faced by the country,” Alhan said.
Alhan also responded to some people’s claims that JP Leader Gasim Ibrahim is not well-educated.
Alhan said that Gasim is a capable leader, and in addition to having served various industries, he is also one of the most successful businessmen in the country. Moreover, Gasim has provided valuable services as President of the Special Majlis to establish the new Constitution, and served for a long period as President of the Maldives National Chamber of Commerce.
JP will hold this series of meetings every Thursday night at JP Haruge.
