The decision has been made that the trial for the case against former President Mohamed Nasheed, for the illegal arrest of the Chief Judge of Criminal Court Abdullah Mohamed, will be presided over by three Judges.
Spokesperson of Department of Judicial Administration, Latheefa Gasim said that the bench of three Judges will preside over the trials for all persons involved in this case.
The State has pressed charges also against former Defence Minister Thalhath Ibrahim Kaleyfaan, former Chief of Defence Force Moosa Ali Jaleel, Brigadier General Ibrahim Mohamed Didi and Colonel Mohamed Ziyad, in relation to the arrest of the Criminal Court Judge. They are all charged with the illegal arrest of an innocent person.
Nasheed has requested Hulhumale’ Court to expedite the trial process.
Hulhumale’ Court has informed that the trial will take place at the Court Room located on the ground floor of the Justice Building.
