Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) has proposed to join the government of President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik.
The proposal was made at the first meeting of the Leaders’ Dialogue held this afternoon at Velaanaage.
Chairperson of MDP Reeko Moosa Manik told reporters after the meeting that MDP made this proposal following the Commission of National Inquiry’s (CNI) decision in its report that the current government is legitimate, and because the current government should be an MDP government.
Government representative at the Leaders’ Dialogue, Political Advisor to the President, Ahmed Thaufeeg said that he welcomed MDP on behalf of the government for this proposal, and that a decision will be made after further discussion.
The next meeting of the Leaders’ Dialogue will be held on 12 September.
Leaders’ Dialogue Moderator, Ahmed Mujtaba said that the second item on the agenda is to discuss ways in which MDP can be included in the government.
