The State has requested the Civil Court to issue an order to halt construction at Usfasgandu, until a verdict is delivered on the case filed by the State requesting for the transfer of Usfasgandu from Male’ City Council to Housing Ministry.
At the trial session held at Civil Court today, the State also requested that Usfasgandu not be leased to any group until the trial is over.
Speaking at Court, Deputy Solicitor General of the Attorney General’s Office, Ahmed Usham pointed out that after the case had been filed to Court, City Council has leased Usfasgandu to Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) for a second time following the expiry of the first lease period.
Judge of Civil Court, Ali Naseer, before concluding today’s session, announced that the next session will be held on Tuesday regarding the temporary order.
Supporters of MDP have, in addition to setting up camp at Usfasgandu, also constructed a mosque in the area.
