Maldives becomes a member of International Solar Alliance

Maldives has become a member of International Solar Alliance, a dedicated platform for cooperation among solar resource rich countries.

Maldives signed in the Framework Agreement on the Establishment of the International Solar Alliance, in an event held last Wednesday morning at Ministry of Environment.

Minister of Environment, Dr. Hussain Rasheed Hassan signed in the agreement on behalf of Maldives.

Ministry of Environment says that with this agreement, the import of oil would be decreased and more assistance would be given to increase the use of Solar Energy.

The Ministry also stated that this agreement will help reach the country’s aim of becoming a carbon neutral country.

Maldives will also get the chance to improve its relations with solar energy, and gain financial assistance, solar technology in cheap prices and increase the mobility of labor, stated Environment Ministry.
