CNI report will not be launched at the UN Building: Andrew Cox

The office of the United Nations in the Maldives has refuted claims that the report of the Commission of National Inquiry (CNI) will be launched at the UN Building in Male’ tomorrow.

The UN said this through a Press Statement by Andrew Cox, the UN Resident Coordinator for the Maldives.

“We understand that the CNI report will be directly delivered to the major actors concerned as per prior agreements. The report will not be released at the UN Building.”

The CNI will present its report to the President and the Prosecutor General tomorrow before 10:00, after which it will be shared with the public.

Rumours have been going around since this morning on social media, on the venue for the ceremony to present the report. The government has not indicated anything in this regard yet.

The Police and Military are on alert for any violence that may erupt following the presentation of the CNI report.
