20 OFID-funded development projects to be run this year

20 of the infrastructure development projects planned by Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure for this year will be run with funding from the OPEC Fund for International Development (OFID), reports the ministry.

The projects include establishment of water systems at seven islands, establishment of sanitation systems at eight islands, and construction of harbors at five islands.

The estimated cost of the 20 projects is USD 65.25 million, and OFID has agreed to release USD 50 million for the projects, reports the ministry.

Appraisal mission for the 20 projects were carried out in January, and the bidding process will be initiated mid-year.

Harbors under the OFID project will be built at:

  1. B. Dhonfanu
  2. B. Kihaadhoo
  3. B. Kudarikilu
  4. G. A. Kolamaafushi
  5. G. Dh. Hoadedhdhoo

Sanitations systems under the OFID project will be established at:

  1. H. Dh. Makunudhoo
  2. H. Dh. Nellaidhoo
  3. H. Dh. Neykurendhoo
  4. Sh. Feydhoo
  5. B. Dharavandhoo
  6. B. Kendhoo
  7. G. Dh. Fiyoari
  8. G. Dh. Vaadhoo

Water systems under the OFID project will be established at:

  1. H. Dh. Makunudhoo
  2. H. Dh. Nellaidhoo
  3. H. Dh. Neykurendhoo
  4. Sh. Feydhoo
  5. B. Kendhoo
  6. G. Dh. Fiyoari
  7. G. Dh. Vaadhoo

Multiple infrastructure development projects initiated by Ministry of National Planning and Infrastructure has already been contracted out, while bidding on some projects remain open.
