Man found dead in N. Maafaru Lagoon

A local from N. Maafaru has been discovered dead in the island's lagoon.

Vice President of Maafaru Council, Zakariyya Mohamed has confirmed the identity of the man as Ali Rasheed, a 58-year-old resident of the island.

He was found dead in the lagoon to the west of Maafaru this Saturday morning, where he, accompanied by other residents of the island, had gone to catch fish.

Zakariyya reports the area from which Ali Rasheed was found is not deep, and frequented by residents of the island for swimming.

Ali Rasheed’s body is currently at the funeral home of the island.
