Investigation report on Police will be published this month: Police Integrity Commission

The Police Integrity Commission (PIC) has said that it will publish the investigation report on illegal practices by the Police during the events which transpired from 6 to 8 February 2012.

Vice President of the PIC Dr Abdullah Waheed said today that the investigation for this report is already complete, and efforts are currently under way to analyse the collected information.

He also said that the case of one Police Officer had been submitted to the Prosecutor General’s Office, against his actions on 8 February.

Referring to the three reports published by HRCM, he said that decisions will be made on action to be taken by PIC following these reports, after discussions within the Commission.

HRCM had highlighted in its report that Police actions during the unrest in Male’ and Addu City on 8 February 2012 were in violation of the Constitution, and advised PIC to take the necessary action subsequent to receiving these reports.
