The Council Office of Th. Kin’bidhoo has informed that the island has been without power for 24 hours due to problems with island’s two generators.
According to Council Vice President Hassan Mohamed, the people of Kin’bidhoo have been without power since 08:00 yesterday morning.
Electricity is provided to the island of 1300-people by South Central Utilities Limited, through 100 kilowatt and 150 kilowatt generators.
“People are facing a lot of difficulties due to the power cut. It’s not possible to live without electricity anymore, so people are really suffering,” Hassan Mohamed said.
Yoonus Rashad, Manager of the Kin’bidhoo Power House run by South Central Utilities Limited, said today that two technicians have arrived in Kin’bidhoo last night to fix the problem.
According to Rashad, power cuts in Kin’bidhoo are caused by obsolescent generators. Rashad was hopeful that electricity can be returned by 14:00 today.
