DJA holds seminar to strengthen criminal justice system

Department of Judicial Administration (DJA) has launched a seminar for four Maldivian atolls to discuss procedural issues in implementing the Criminal Procedure Code.

DJA reports the seminars will be held from November 24-28 and are aimed at magistrates, legal staff at magistrate courts, staff at the Prosecutor General’s Office and police officers stationed in H. A. Atoll, H. Dh. Atoll, Sh. Atoll and N. Atoll.

The seminar is being held at the H. Dh. Kulhudhuffushi northern office complex.

DJA reports sessions for the 36 participants of the seminar are being conducted by:

  • Ali Sameer, High Court Judge
  • Abdul Sattar Abdul Hameed, Chief Judge of Drug Court
  • Ali Rasheed Hussain, Drug Court Judge

DJA also held a seminar for the legal sector of the four northern atolls on the Penal Code earlier this November.
