President Dr Mohamed Waheed Hassan Manik has said that he is prepared to participate in the All-party-talks, if Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP) stops pestering government employees and supporters of the government.
Speaking to reporters at the official jetty while on his way to depart to Saudi Arabia to participate in the Organisation of Islamic Conference (OIC), the President said that the Moderator of the All-party-talks Ahmed Mujtaba is currently on vacation; however, discussions between him and Mr Mujtaba are ongoing.
He added that Mr Mujtaba will return to Male’ and resume the talks soon.
The President went on to say that MDP’s harassments have reduced, and thanked senior officials of MDP for this; however noted that the pestering needs to stop completely.
He further said that Vice President Mohamed Waheeddeen was appointed to participate on his behalf in the discussions following the disruption of the Parliament based on the advice of the Speaker of Parliament Abdullah Shahid. He also expressed hope that the Parliament sessions will resume this week.
