Judicial Administrator at the Department of Judicial Administration, Hassan Saeed, too, has been ordered to remain in custody of the authorities until the end of his trial.

Along with Hassan Saeed, the Criminal Court ordered that the former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom and the Chief Justice, Abdulla Saeed, both arrested under the rule of State of Emergency for an attempt to overthrow the government, to remain in custody until the end of their trials.

Although Hassan Saeed was arrested after the State of Emergency was declared, authorities tried to get a court order for his arrest before that as well.

The Supreme Court then overturned the court order and ordered that all relevant documents of the case be turned in to the court.

Hassan Saeed was arrested on the night of 5 February 2018, inside the Supreme Court.

Police also suspects Saeed of being involved in an attempt to overthrow the government. However, the investigation of that case is yet not complete.
