Column work of the King Salman Mosque has begun

The column phase of the King Salman Mosque being built from the free-aid from Saudi Arabia, has started.

Housing Minister, Dr. Mohamed Muizzu, has been updating the public on the projects under the ministry through is Twitter account. In a tweet sent out last night, Dr. Muizzu confirmed that the work of the columns of the mosque has begun.

Last week, Dr. Muizzu tweeted saying that the concrete foundation work of the mosque was underway.

The King Salman Mosque project worth USD 24.95 million is contracted to Turkey's Turmaks company. The mosque will be the largest in the country upon completion.

King Salman Mosque being built on the land north of Artificial Beach, would have 41,500 square feet with six floors, four elevators along with a parking area of 44,100 square feet.

The mosque is set to have an auditorium and a multipurpose hall along with a world-class library, classrooms and seminar rooms.

Along with the marble area, the mosque can accommodate 10,000 people in prayer at a time.
