State Minister of Health Hussain Rasheed resigns

State Minister at Ministry of Health, Hussain Rasheed has resigned from his post.

In a letter sent to President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom this Monday, Hussain Rasheed said he was resigning over the delay in enforcing the order issued by Supreme Court on February 1, and the lack of answers for the questions over the delay.

“As I cannot reconcile the delay and lack of answers over the reaction to the order issued by the highest court, I hereby resign from my post as State Minister at Ministry of Health, as a Board member of National Drug Agency, and as Vice Chairman of the Governing Board of National Drug Control Fund,” wrote Hussain Rasheed in his resignation letter to the President.

Supreme Court, on February 1, ordered the immediate release of nine political leaders, and the immediate reinstatement of 12 parliamentarians.
