Opposition submits no-confidence motions against AG, PG

The joint parliamentary group of the opposition political parties has submitted no-confidence motions against Attorney General Mohamed Anil and Prosecutor General Aishath Bisham with the People’s Majlis.

The joint parliamentary group confirmed it submitted the motions this Sunday morning.

Opposition MPs had gone to the People’s Majlis office this Sunday and held a meeting, after which they said they made two submissions:

1. To hold Majlis sessions as per Majlis's standing order.

2. To submit no-confidence motions of those acting ultra-virus outside the scope of the powers granted to them by the law.

Meanwhile, the Secretary-General of People’s Majlis, Ahmed Mohamed handed in his resignation this Sunday. And the first Majlis sitting of the year, scheduled for coming Monday, has been cancelled for security reasons.
