Maafushi Council members suspended indefinitely

All members of the K. Maafushi Council have been suspended indefinitely.

Vice President of Maafushi Council, Nasheeda Adam reported to “Sun” the Local Government Authority (LGA) informed the council of the indefinite suspension of all councilors via a text message to their mobile phones this Wednesday.

The message read that K. Atoll Council and LGA was conducting an investigation into alleged misconduct by the councilors, and that they have all been placed under suspension, pending outcome of the investigation.

LGA recently issued a three-month suspension on all members of the G. A. Atoll Council in a similar case.
