Criminal Court has today delivered the verdict against two Pakistani drug traffickers who tried to bring in drugs to Maldives.
They were ordered to pay a fine of MVR100,000 and sentenced to life imprisonment.
The convicts are Ishfag, 25, and Imthiyaz Khan, 32.
They were given one month to pay the fine to Criminal Court.
The verdict details that the two men arrived in Maldives on a Sri Lankan Airlines flight on 12 February 2012, and that they had confessed to attempting to bring in drugs by swallowing bullets. Investigations later revealed that the bullets contained diamorphine.
