City Council gives Meridium one week to commence petrol shed services

Male’ City Council has notified Meridium Services that the agreement will be voided and their petrol shed removed, unless services are commenced within seven days from 31 July.

A letter sent by Male’ City Council to Vilufushi MP and Managing Director of Meridium Services Riyaz Rasheed states that the petrol shed area is being used for purposes other than those defined in the agreement.

The Council raised concern that vehicle reparation, painting, and other maintenance works were being carried out in the area, instead of providing petrol services for which there is high demand in Male’.

City Council pointed out that according to the article 3(a) of the agreement, services were supposed to commence within twelve months of signing the agreement.

It has not been possible to contact Riyaz in relation to this letter.

Meridium opened ‘Meridium Filling’ petrol shed on 11 September 2011 at block 404 on Ameenee magu. The MVR9-million petrol shed can hold 40,000 litres of petrol and 30,000 litres of diesel, and serve up to 16 vehicles at a time.
