BroadCom sued over cancellation of license to Raajje Plus

A lawsuit has been filed against Maldives Broadcasting Commission over the cancellation of license issued to R Production to operate private television channel – Raajje Plus.

An official from Raajje Plus who spoke to “Sun” said the lawsuit was accepted by Civil Court last Sunday.

The official said the channel started its operations on September 8. And that BroadCom cancelled its license on October 25.

The channel is dedicated to entertainment news, entertainment shows, movies, dramas and songs. Its license was cancelled claiming services via IP TV was not acceptable as providing services via satellite as stated in the license issued to R Production, said the official.

Meanwhile, BroadCom claims R Production was issued broadcasting license on September 9, 2015. And that it did not launch services within the mandatory 12 hours within the issuance of license.
