Court accepts lawsuit over Adeeb’s health care

Civil Court has accepted the lawsuit filed on behalf of incarcerated former Vice President Ahmed Adeeb Abdul Gafoor requesting for a court order to arrange for Adeeb to receive health care from abroad.

An official from Civil Court who spoke to “Sun” confirmed the lawsuit was registered at the court last Sunday.

The official said Adeeb’s attorneys were asked to make revisions to the lawsuit three times before it was accepted.

Adeeb’s attorney Ahmed Siraj sent a letter to Maldives Police Service asking for permission to allow his attorneys visitation rights to Adeeb even during non-working days due to deterioration of his health condition.

Siraj said in the letter that Adeeb suffered from multiple health conditions including cysts, kidney stones and glaucoma.

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom announced in a recent public event that Adeeb will be allowed to travel abroad only when the State recovers all the funds he embezzled from Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC).
