Fire in Thimarafushi

A fire has broken out at a residential house in Thaa Thimarafushi.

President of the Thimarafushi Island Council, Ismail Ibrahim told Sun Media that the fire started at "Rosemeadge" residential house at around 12:30 p.m. today and there was no one home at the time of the fire.

He said that the fire was controlled by the island's firefighers along with police assistance.

Although no one was injured, the house was destroyed beyond use according to the President of the Thimarafushi Island Council.

Council President, Ismail Ibrahim said that the residents of the house are a single mother and her three children of the ages ten, eight and two. He said that their father lives in Male' City.

Ismail Ibrahim said that the Island Council will be arranging housing and food for the family.
