Two Maldivians have been charged with terrorism for an attempted suicide attack affiliated with the Islamic State (IS).
Sun Media has learned that the Prosecutor General's Office brought up the charges at the Criminal Court against two people from Maduvvari and Fuvahmulah.
Neither the Police nor the Prosecutor General's Office is yet to release any information on the case. And so the details on the two people are unclear at this time.
Sources say that the were arrested in early September, 2017. Criminal Court extended the remand of the two people in custody by ten days yesterday.
It is unclear whether their planned suicide attack was to take place in Maldives or abroad. Sources say that their connection to IS have been confirmed during the course of the investigation.
