President inaugurates Dhaalu Airport

President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom has officially inaugurated the “Dhaalu Airport” in Dh. Kudahuvadhoo.

The airport was inaugurated by Yameen in a function held this Wednesday morning.

The function was attended by leader of Maldives Development Alliance (MDA), Meedhoo MP Ahmed Siyam Mohamed, Minister of Tourism Abdulla Zameer and Minister of Environment Toriq Ibrahim, as well as a large crowd of Kudahuvadhoo citizens.

The first test flight landed in the Dhaalu Airport on June 1. The airport was built by reclaiming 62.81 hectors as land. The airport has a 1,800-meter runway and an airport parking zone able to accommodate 42 aircrafts.

The airport currently stands as the largest domestic airport in the country.

Dhaalu Airport was developed by private company – Royal Investment. It was built by Royal Investment’s subsidiary – Dhaalu Airport Holdings.
