Minister Shaheem assaulted on the road again

Mohamed Shaheem Ali Saeed, Minister of Islamic Affairs, has again being assaulted by a group of people on the road, and abused with obscene and foul language.

Minister Shaheem was assaulted today evening, as he was entering Food Bank restaurant for a breakfast.

The Minister told Sun that he was assaulted and abused with foul language.

This would be the second such incident during the current month of Ramadan. Minister Shaheem has been assaulted before as well. Before the beginning of Ramadan, his car was attacked on two occasions, once when his three-year old son was in the car.

Claims have repeatedly being made that these repeated attacks and assaults against the Minister of Islamic Affairs are committed by some violent activists of the Maldivian Democratic Party (MDP), which is “more a violent, fanatic gang than a political party”, according to one of the sources.
