SATA 2018 to be held in India

The third edition of the South Asian Travel Awards (SATA) will be held in India in 2018, says event organizers High Rise.

The announcement for the next host country for SATA was made during SATA 2017’s gala and awards function held in Addu City, last Saturday night, by High Rise’s director and founder of SATA, Ismail Hameedh.

Ismail said SATA was held with support and cooperation from a lot of parties. He said they planned on holding a third edition of SATA in India in 2018, based on the success of the awards in 2016 and 2017.

The first edition of SATA was held in 2016 at the Mount Lavinia Hotel in Sri Lanka, with hospitality brands operating in Maldives, India and Sri Lanka competing for the awards.

The second edition of SATA was held last Saturday at the Equator Village in Addu City, Maldives. Hospitality brands operating in Nepal and Bhutan had also participated in this year’s awards.

Maldives had come out top in this year’s SATA with 24 regional awards. India won seven regional awards, Sri Lanka won four regional awards and newcomer Nepal won two regional awards.
