Imran transferred back to prison

Leader of Adhaalath Party, Sheikh Imran Abdulla has been moved back to Maafushi Prison where he will be serving the reminder of a 12-year sentence for inciting violence.

Information officer at Maldives Correctional Service, Ahmed Lugman reported to “Sun” that Imran’s transfer to house arrest had only been temporary, and that he was transferred back to prison, this Saturday.

Imran was sentenced to 12-years in prison by Criminal Court on February 16, 2016 after being found guilty of inciting violence through his speech at the May Day Protest in Male’ City in 2015, which was organized by the opposition.
