Maldives Immigration has said that the fee for the new Passport Card is MVR 450.

Immigration said that the card will be issued for citizens who have acquired the E-Passport after 2016 and new applicants for the E-Passport.

The Passport Card can be used to travel abroad according to Immigration. Since other countries have not started using the card at their borders, travelers are advised to take their passports with them as they will be required.

Passport Card was created with assistance from the Bank of Maldives (BML) and Allied Insurance. With the card can be used to make purchases and other monetary transactions, Immigration advises that the card not be given to other people. And if any institute requires a copy of the card, Immigration asks that only the side with the picture be submitted. They also advise against photocopies and sharing with other people.

Immigration said that they need to be informed along with the BML Card Center if the Passport Card is lost and a new card can be issued after taking a fine along with the processing fee.
