STO fuel tanker which ran aground rescued

The State Trading Organization fuel tanker “Guraab” which ran aground off the coast of Lh. Felivaru has been rescued.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s information officer, Captain Ibrahim Azim reported the tanker was rescued with the assistance of Maldives Industrial Fisheries Company (MIFCO)’s boat “Kalaminja 403” at 12:20 this Monday afternoon.

Azim reported MNDF Coastguard divers were assessing the tanker for any damage.

The STO fuel tanker “Guraab” had been carrying petrol from Sh. Milandhoo to Male’ City when it ran aground. There were 12 people onboard the tanker when the incident took place, reports MNDF.
