STO fuel tanker runs aground

State Trading Organization’s fuel tanker “Guraab” has run aground off the coast of Lh. Felivaru.

Maldives National Defense Force (MNDF)’s information officer, Captain Ibrahim Azim said the incident was reported to the authority at 6:15 am this Monday.

The tanker had been travelling from Sh. Milandhoo to Male’ City carrying petrol when it ran aground. The tanker had 12 people onboard when the incident took place.

“MNDF’s Coastguard divers are operating at the site,” said Azim.
