Police: 50 people arrested in relation to gang violence and murder

Maldives Police Service has said that a total of 50 people have been arrested so far in relation to the different homicides and gang violence in Malé City in the recent weeks.

In a statement issued by the police tonight, they said that the investigation of some of the people that were arrested has been completed and their trials have started as well.

They include those suspected of direct involvement in murders and gang violence according to the police. And they were arrested with evidence as well according to the police service.

Police said that they would stay firm on investigating and take appropriate actions against such crimes.

Two people were arrested last night in Kaafu Hinmafushi as well regarding a death. However the police did not say as to which murder they were related to.

So far seven people have been killed this year which include the murder of two expatriates and people killed in gang violence.
