Speaker of the Parliament, Abdulla Maseeh Mohamed has left for Sri Lanka to take part in the 8th Conference of the Association of SAARC Speakers and Parliamentarians.
Speakers and Parliamentarians of the SAARC countries are taking part in the conference held from 2-7 October.
Maldivain MPs taking part in the conference alongside the Speaker are the MP for Kudahuvadhoo constituency, Ahmed Amir, the MP for Mid-Maafannu constituency, Asma Rasheed, the MP for South Maafannu constituency, Abdulla Rifaau and the Secretary, Ahmed Mohamed and the Deputy Secretary, Abdul Hameed Zakariya.
They were welcomed at the Colombo International Airport by the MP of the Sri Lankan Parliament, Edward Gunasekara and the Maldivian Ambassador for Sri Lanka.
The President of Sri Lanka, Maithripala Sirisena and the Prime Minister, Ranil Wickremesinghe, met with the Speakers of the Parliaments of the SAARC countries.
