Suspension on 16 more lawyers for signing a petition to Supreme Court has been lifted after they submitted written apologies, reports Department of Judicial Administration.
DJA had suspended 56 lawyers over the petition. It had lifted the suspension on 13 lawyers earlier, and the 16 more lawyers brings the total number of lawyers who has had their suspension revoked to 29 lawyers; leaving 25 lawyers still suspended.
DJA announced this Saturday that the 16 more lawyers had their suspension lifted after the authority looked into their cases.
“Sun” has been informed that the lawyers had their suspension lifted after they submitted written apologies.
The lawyers who had their suspension lifted include former President Mohamed Nasheed’s brother – Ahmed Nazim Abdul Sattar, member of President Nasheed’s legal team – Safa Shareef, and members of former Attorney General Husnu Suood’s law firm.
