Maldives Police Service has said that the three people arrested in relation to the last night's gang attack are suspected of direct involvement.
While three people were injuried in the attack that took place near Maafannu Dhunburi Mosque, one of them, 19-year-old Moosa Ahmed Manik, from Vaavu atoll Keyodhoo, passed away moments after he was taken to Indira Gandhi Memorial Hospital (IGMH).
A statement issued by the police tonight said that three people have been arrested following the gang attack last night after a period of fewer fights and organized crimes in Malé City.
With the police yet to reval any information on the people who were arrested, they have said that all three people that were arrested had direct involvement in the attack.
Police said that the crime is being investigated as a serious case along with the similar crimes in the past. And said that the police are taking the necessary steps to reduce the crime rates.
At the end of the statement, police send condolences to the young man who was killed last night and assured the family that the police would bring the culprits to justice.
A 24-year-old man injured in the attack is still being treated at IGMH while another, 16-year-old was released after treatment.
