Vessel carrying sand capsized

A vessel carrying sand has capsized near Velassaru Maldives Resort in Malé atoll. MNDF has been deployed to the scene.

Information Officer of MNDF, Ibrahim Azim said that the incident was reported this morning around 11:06 a.m. this morning and the Coastguard is at the scene.

Talking to Sun Media, a man at Vaadhoo resort said that the incident was witnessed by the Managing Director of the resort and a lauch and a boat was dispatched to the scene and rescued the crew of the capsized vessel.

And the resort employees are working with the Coastguard to bring the vessel into the lagoon of the resort.

The three people on board at the time of the incident escaped without injury and was taken in by the boat from the resort.
