The Maldivian delegation participating in the first South Asian Youth Summit (SAYS) was provided a warm welcome from the city of Bhubaneswar upon arrival.
SAYS 2017 will be held in Bhubneswar City, the capital of the East Indian State Odisha from September 17 – 20.
The 34 Maldivian delegates arrived in Bhubaneswar for the Summit this Saturday afternoon after a one-day stop in Chennai.
They were greeted at the airport by President of International Youth Committee (IYC), Jayantha Patra, Secretariat Admin of IYC, Jayantha Kumar and volunteers participating in the event.
Speaking to media outside the airport, head of Maldivian delegation, Founder and President of Regional Alliance for Fostering Youth (RAFY NGO), Aishath Rafiyya expressed gratitude for the warm welcome to the Maldivian delegation by IYC. Rafiyya said the Maldivian delegates were happy with the opportunity to participate in the event.
The Maldivian delegation also includes musicians who will be performing during the opening and closing ceremony of the event, as well as media delegates. The team of musicians involve Mohamed Muazzin (Rock Star) – who rose to popularity during the first season of Maldivian Idol – and his fellow metal band members from Habeys Gravity, and popular Maldivian singers Mohamed Abdul Ghanee (Theyrava) and Sama Moosa (Samko).
