A nation-wide rally is being orgaized to protest against the the violence and human rights violations against the Rohingya Muslims led by the military of Myanmar.
Speaking at a press conference by the International Aid Campaign, a league of 39 NGOs to help the Rohingya Muslims, Media Official, Adam Naaif said that a nation-wide rally is being set for 22 September 2017 and requested that all citizens take part in it.
Naaif said that no actions that violate the Islamic Shariah and the Maldivian constitution would be allowed at any activity run to help the Rohingya Muslims and any violations to that would result in dismissal from the NGO and appropriate action.
With the amendment to the law of peaceful gathering, any gathering of any kind can only be held in the capital, Malé City, at locations designated by the Home Ministry.
The Home Ministry has previously state that the only place in Malé City where rallies can be held is the Carnival area.
