White Alert issued: Rain expected for most of the south

Maldives Meteorological Service has issued a White Alert for the south of the country expected strong winds and torrential rain.

The Meteorological Service said today that winds are expected at 40 mph during showers to Laamu, Gaafu Alifu, Gaafu Dhaalu and Addu Atoll.

MET Office has also advised caution in sea travel as thunderstorms and torrential rain is expected with strong winds.

While the country has been having a number of rainy days recently, the MET Office said that they are being caused by the clouds forming above the country.
