Mundhu appointed Ambassador to Sri Lanka

Mohamed Hussain Shareef (Mundhu) has been appointed the new Maldivian Ambassador to neighboring Sri Lanka.

Mundhu was presented with his letter of appointment by President Abdulla Yameen Abdul Gayoom at the President’s Office, this Wednesday.

People’s Majlis voted to appoint Mundhu to the position on August 23. No opposition parliamentarians participated in the voting.

Mundhu served as Spokesperson at President’s Office during former President Maumoon Abdul Gayoom’s administration; and as Minister of Youth and Sports and Minister at President’s Office during Yameen’s administration.

Mundhu has a Master’s Degree in Foreign Diplomacy.

His last posting was as Maldivian Ambassador to Japan.
