Holiday weather forecast: Heavy rain, thunderstorms

Heavy rain and thunderstorms are expected across Maldives for this Saturday and coming Sunday, reports Maldives Meteorological Service.

Widespread rain with isolated heavy showers and thunderstorms will be experienced in the Maldives for the next 24 hours starting from 10 am, this Saturday, reports MMS.

Surface winds will be west to north westerly at 13 to 23 miles per hour in central and northern atolls, and 5 to 15 miles per hour in the southern atolls. Winds may gust up to 45 miles per hour during showers.

MMS reports that seas are expected to be moderate becoming rough during showers in the southern atolls, and rough in general elsewhere.

Waves are expected to be three to six feet in open seas.

Caution has been advised to all seafarers.
